Other Areas:

Venice BeachVenice… a well kept secret located just minutes south of Sarasota. Life is special in Venice and it’s because the residents value the old and preserve what is natural. The town is one of only a few on the western coastline not separated by a barrier island. In 1963 the Intracoastal Waterway was constructed to make the historic town area an “island”. There are three bridges taking you from the mainland to the island where you will enjoy our historic downtown, wonderful beaches, boat and kayak launches, the jetty and bike trails.

The historic downtown district has retained its quaint charm. You will find unique shops as you stroll along the palm lined streets of Venice, Miami and Tampa Avenues. Located in the center of town is Centennial Park offering a gazebo and water fountain. It is the site of the Saturday Farmer’s Market. You can enjoy our many art and cultural events, along with concerts in the park. Venice has its own theatre offering concerts and plays throughout the year. At the Venice Art Center you can participate in classes from beginner to advanced. They have lots of different programs and exhibitions.

Venice beaches come in many varieties. You might find yourself in the midst of condos, at the jetty, or overlooking the pier. If solitude is more your cup of tea, then you will want to be at Casperson Beach, surrounded by local vegetation with no buildings in site. Venice is the Shark Tooth Capital where you can hunt for sharks teeth. We even have a beach just dedicated to our four legged friends. Dogs can swim freely and there is a fenced shower and cooling down area for them.

And did I forget to mention our bike trails? You have a choice of using the Legacy Trail created from an old railroad track running from Venice to Sarasota. Or you may want to bike along the Intercoastal and meander through a part of the island to the beach. Either way these trails offer a safe way to travel on your bike.

Golf is plentiful. You have many choices from public, semi-private and private courses. Some are very challenging, but there are many for the average player. If you are a resident you can choose to buy the Big Summer Card which for a nominal fee lets you play at some of the private and semi-private courses for a reduced fee during the off season.

Make Venice your home… you will not be disappointed.
