Sarasota Polo Season 2017

sarasota-poloThe 2017 Sarasota Polo season begins Sunday, December 30th. Below are dates for public matches, which are held every Sunday through April 9th. Gates open at 10 a.m. and matches begin at 1 p.m.

New this season, the club will host matches on the last Friday of the month at 3 p.m. Gates for these games open at 2 p.m.

Admission is $12 per person. Children under 12 and under are free. Tickets can be purchased at the gate. For more information visit sarasotapolo.com.

Snow Fest Sarasota

snowfestDo you miss all that snow when you’re here in Sarasota? Well…miss it no more. The weekend of December 16-18th the 6th annual Snow Fest will take place at the Premier Sports Campus at Lakewood Ranch. Celebrate the holiday season at Sarasota’s signature winter event.

This is your chance to get out and play with the only snow in Florida with daily snowfall! From giant snow slides to pony rides, pictures with Santa, snowman building, giant snow globe and live shows featuring Candy Cane Hula Hoopers and Jelly Bean Jugglers. In addition there will be a kids amusement area with DJ Grinch, vendors and a lot more.

7th Annual Siesta Key Crystal Classic International Sand Sculpting Festival

Held each November when our weather is picture perfect, the sand sculpting festival draws artists from all over the world to compete for the grand prize. Recently named America’s #1 Beach, the Siesta Key Crystal Classic has become a favorite of the professional sand sculptors who have competed here.

The event begins on Friday November 11th and continues through Tuesday the 15th. Hours are 10am to 5pm each day. The sand sculptures will be visible along the beach, but for close up viewing of artists at work tickets can be purchased for $10 per adult, $8 for seniors and military and $5 for children (Ages 5-17). The proceeds go to benefit the Mote Marine Laboratory Sea Turtle Conservation and Research program. siesta-key-sand-sculpture

Friday through Sunday there will be live entertainment. Food, drink and other vendors will be onsite and there are special activities for kids.

Pumpkin Festival

fruitville-groveOne of the great things about Fall is the number of festivals happening all over town. The Pumpkin Festival at Fruitville Grove has long been a favorite and it’s now in it’s 28th year! It starts this year on Saturday, October 1st and runs every weekend (Saturday and Sunday) through the 30th. There are many fun activities including:

  • Crafters
  • Pony rides
  • Hayrides
  • Live music
  • Moon bounce
  • Mini-Train ride
  • Playground
  • Face painters
  • Hay play area
  • Pumpkin painting
  • Giant Human Water Rollers
  • Festival Games

Each individual ride and game activity booth, including pony rides, rock wall, bounce house, and pumpkin painting, has their own set price ranging from $2 – $7. The produce stand and market will be open as usual during the week and also during the festival where fresh vegetables and Amish-made goods are available.

Sarasota Powerboat Grand Prix and Festival

Boat RacesStarting on June 25th and running through July 4th Sarasota will be home to many events included in the Powerboat Grand Prix and Festival. From the opening golf tournament, car show, fishing tournament, downtown block party and boat parade to the boat races and fireworks on July 4th there will be lots to do in and around Sarasota.

The funds raised by these events support Suncoast Charities for Children which provides services that impact over 8,000 children, teens and adults with special needs and their families each year. It’s a great cause as well as a great time for our town.

The Sarasota County Fair

Sarasota Agricultural Fair

From March 18th through the 27th we will be celebrating the 80th year of the Sarasota County Fair. The 2016 fair features agricultural exhibits, animals, great entertainment on two stages, arts and crafts, comedy shows, music and spectacular rides by Belle City Amusements. This year’s fair will have something for everyone to enjoy!

The fair takes place at Robarts Arena on Fruitville Road. Hours are Fridays from 2-11pm, Saturdays 12-11pm, Sundays 12-10pm and Monday to Thursday from 5-10pm.

Admission Prices:
Adults: $8
Senior Citizens (55 and over): $4.00
Active Military: $4.00
Children: ages 6-17 $4.00
Children 5 & under: FREE
