Mr. CB’s Boat Club in Sarasota

By | November 4, 2015

Mr CBs

Mr CBsI just stumbled upon this great deal and wanted to pass it along… Mr. CB’s Saltwater Outfitters is a clothing store, bait store, all things fishing store, boat rental store and they now have a boat club. Members can join the boat club and get UNLIMITED BOAT RENTALS-Any boat, any time (according to their brochure). They have pontoon boats, center consoles, bay boats, deck boats, and runabout boats ranging in size from 17 feet to 27 feet.

How does the boat rental work? Typically beginning September 1st and running through about January 31st, you can join the club for either $1,000 which gets you unlimited HALF DAY rentals + Tax and fuel or join for $1,500 and receive unlimited FULL DAY rentals + Tax and fuel. There are, of course, a few excluded days in there around Thanksgiving and Christmas, but where in Sarasota can you join a rental club for five months so inexpensively! Give it a try and I’d opt for the full day rental! Mr. CB’s is located just over the Stickney Point Bridge on Siesta Key at 1249 Stickney Point Rd., Sarasota, 34242. (941)349-4400. Give them a call or stop by!

“Back to Our Roots” at Selby Gardens

By | October 22, 2015

Marie Selby Botanical Gardens

Marie Selby Botanical GardensMarie Selby Botanical Gardens is featuring the historical exhibit “Back to Our Roots” about its founders during October and November as part of the Gardens’ year-long 40th anniversary celebration.

The exhibit pairs stories of the people who built Selby Gardens’ collection of epiphytic plants alongside beautiful displays of the tropical plants like orchids and bromeliads that they researched. “Back to Our Roots” is on display in the Gardens’ conservatory Oct. 16 – Nov. 15.

The collection notably recognizes Dr. Calaway Dodson, the Gardens’ first executive director, and Dr. Carlyle Luer, the personal physician of Marie Selby and an avid botanist. Both men helped build Selby Gardens, transforming the Bayfront property into a world-renowned botanical garden. They both took part in field expeditions and established the Gardens’ commitment to research and conservation.

“Back to Our Roots” is included with regular admission to Selby Gardens. For a full calendar of all events hosted at Selby Gardens, and to purchase tickets to events in advance, visit www.selby.org, or call 941-366-5731.

Solorzano’s Pizzeria

Solorzano's Pizzeria

Solorzano's PizzeriaA Welcome Addition to Gulf Gate!

As a huge Gulf Gate fan I am always excited to try a new place when it opens up. This past weekend I had the opportunity to try some food from Solorzano’s Pizza Café on Superior Street and it was over-the-top delicious.

We ordered Chicken Parmesan sandwiches that were out of this world, the chicken is so tender that it melts in your mouth, the sauce is very flavorful, but the best part is the homemade hoagie roll, it is perhaps the freshest bread I have ever had. The sandwich is large so it big enough for two. We also ordered a pizza that was cooked to perfection. Next time you are in Gulf Gate stop by Solorzano’s and treat yourself to some yummy Italian treats!

The Table Creekside Restaurant

By | September 20, 2015

Table Creekside

Table CreeksideThe Table Creekside Restaurant on Phillippi Creek in Sarasota, FL is where Joe and Missy go when we have an anniversary or other special dinner date! It is easily our favorite upscale place to eat complete with a water view! This centrally-located restaurant is located on the banks of Phillippi Creek in a converted old house built in the mid 1950’s.

The Table features a super and pocket-friendly Happy Hour daily from 4:00-6:30 with awesome drink specials and tapas food including the not-to-be-missed Bacon Jam Flatbread. For dinner, the specials of the day are out of this world with some very risqué dishes that the chef’s pull off with ease. The wine list is extensive but not expensive and the wait staff is excellently trained and attentive! Dinners range between $20-$45+ each.

Located on US41 at: 5365 S. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota. Hours: Open at 4pm M-S and Sunday brunch begins at 11am. Make sure to call for reservations (941-921-9465) and come by boat too!
