Keith FarmhouseCelebrate National Historic Preservation Month at the Keith Farmhouse (pictured) located in the beautiful Phillippi Estate Park. The park is located at 5500 South Tamiami Trail, and the event is being held on Wednesday, May 1, 2013, from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

Although the exterior of the 1916 “Keith Farmhouse” has been historically rehabilitated, the interior is a work in progress. The building will be open to the public for the first time in two years. Self-guided tours of the first floor will be expanded upon by docents in costumes of the period. Kitt Moran and Trio will be performing music of the early 1900s for your enjoyment. Light refreshments will be served and many of Sarasota County’s historical organizations will be present for a History in the Park Expo.

All this, in addition to the regular, weekly, Wednesday Farmer’s Market, filled with locally produced fruits, vegetables, seafood and prepared foods galore, as well as candles, pet foods, herbs, plants and more. FREE admission, FREE parking and FREE live music all day! Be sure to put it on your calendar.

Sounds like an excellent event. Our area in Orange has a historic area and just celebrated their 125th anniversary. Your post just reminded me of how unique areas like this are.
