If you are looking for authentic Cuban food…Jose’s is the place! Normally I would not go into a restaurant that looks like a real dive but having seen an eposide of Diners, Drive Ins and Dives on the Food Network featuring this place, we decided to give it a try.
The ambience is like a diner with a few tables and some seats at the bar overlooking the kitchen. The employees were all friendly and offered to let us taste anything on the menu. We sampled their roasted pork as it goes on their signature sandwich and it was quite good…similar to pulled pork.
We each had a Cuban sandwich with had the roasted pork, ham, cheese and pickles on Cuban bread and pressed. The 1/2 sandwich was huge and came with a cup of black bean soup which was really tasty. That and an ice cold beer made for the perfect lunch.
It’s located on Cortez Road in West Bradenton so if you’re out that way in your travels check it out. For more information or to see Guy Fieri’s episode visit their website at www.josesrealcubanfood.com.
