Local Farmer’s Markets

Now that the humidity and temperatures are dropping just a bit, it is a great time to head out to our areas local Farmer’s Markets.  Whether you live in Sarasota, Bradenton, or Venice, you can visit a weekend or weekday market, go ahead – there is something for everyone!

Most Farmer’s Markets in the area are open October through May of the calendar year.  Some, but not all of the local markets are listed here.  If you are looking for local fresh Farmer’s, Fisherman, Craftsman or Artists wares, you should be able to find them at any of these local markets.

The Downtown Sarasota Farmers Market is located at the corner of North Lemon Avenue and Main Street downtown.  You can find over 70 vendors with all their goods every Saturday from 7am to 1pm, rain or shine.  http://www.sarasotafarmersmarket.org

The Phillippi Farmhouse market at Phillippi Estate Park has re-opened for its 4th season this month.  The market is open every Wednesday from 9am to 2pm.  There are over 40 vendors with many great local products.  Go to their very user friendly website to get the location, see what fruits and vegetables are in season and get the latest market news.  http://farmhousemarket.org

If you would like to stay out closer to the beach for the weekend, you can visit the Siesta Key Farmers Market every Sunday from 8am to 1pm (rain or shine) right in the Siesta Village Plaza parking lot.  http://www.siestafarmersmarket.com

Historic Downtown Venice opens the Venice Farmer’s Market every Saturday from 8am to Noon at the corner of Nokomis and Tampa Avenues.  You can visit their website to sign up for an email list for special events and coupons.  http://thevenicefarmersmarket.com

In Bradenton, you can celebrate historic Old Main Street and visit the Bradenton Farmers Market.  They are open every Saturday from 9am to 2pm, October through May.  You can also catch “Mainly Art”, which is a downtown arts and craft market held monthly on the third Saturday during the same hours as the Farmers Market.  Attendance at this market continues to rise regularly.  While you are there, take a look at the progress of Downtown Bradenton’s Riverfront Project.  It is a mile long area on the coast that will begin to feature many new activities, including an upcoming Blues Festival.   Get information about everything mentioned at http://www.realizebradenton.com
