For the second year the Myakka Outpost at Myakka State Park is having a Croctoberfest on Saturday, October 6th from Noon to 7:00pm. There will be live music, great food and over 40 Fall/German beers to choose from. With our temperatures getting cooler I’m thinking this will be a great way to spend a fall afternoon!

Myakka River State Park is one of Florida’s oldest and largest state parks. The “Florida Wild and Scenic Myakka River” flows through 57 square miles of wetlands, prairies and woodlands. Myakka is popular for hiking, fishing, camping, and wildlife observation. If you haven’t been to the park in awhile it’s worth the trip out SR72 (Clark Road) about 9 miles east of I-75. Entry into the park is $6 per car.

While you’re there check out the many activities they offer. We recently took an out of town guest for a ride on the Myakka Maiden. This enclosed airboat tour is a great way to get an overview of the park and see some incredible Florida wildlife. It’s not too crowded during the off-season and a fun way to experience Florida in its natural state.

For more information check out the park’s website.
