Yes, Emerson Point Park is for the birds and the butterflies and kayakers and those of us who love nature!   I first visited several years ago with Sarasota Butterfly Club and have gone back many times.  What a wonderful resource we have.

Situated in Palmetto at the far western point on 17th Street West, it’s a remote reminder of Florida long, long ago.   Beaches, kayak, birdwatching, boardwalks and walking trails… there’s an observation tower that overlooks the Sunshine Skyway Bridge and the mouth of the Manatee River… stand on top of a centuries old Indian Temple Mound and shell midden… it’s a truly magnificent piece of property… a true gift!

Many thanks to the Bradenton Herald Tribune for providing a first hand look at Emerson Point Park.  Check out their photog collection and see for yourself.  I have a feeling you’ll make plans to visit soon!
